Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese said Labor would “deal with” the issue of religious discrimination in government, but stopped short of promising new laws as a matter of priority should it win the upcoming federal election.

After a bruising week for the government that saw it abandon its 2019 election commitment to deliver a religious discrimination act, Mr Albanese has avoided making a similar vow to faith communities ahead of the poll.
