If the Religious Discrimination Bill were a submarine, it might now be taking on water and heading for the ocean floor. The Morrison government’s third draft of the bill may have suffered a blow right before surfacing in parliament, hit by a metaphoric torpedo from one of the bill’s leading proponents – the Australian Christian Lobby.

Comments made by the ACL’s managing director Martyn Iles on Christian Vision radio on 18 October (and subsequently removed from the internet) have, reportedly, caused ructions within the government.
