Unions and employers have joined forces to fight the Morrison government’s controversial religious freedom bill, warning it will damage workplace harmony and pit employees from different backgrounds against each other at work.

In a joint letter sent to Attorney-General Christian Porter on Monday, the Australian Council of Trade Unions and the Australian Industry Group said while they supported protections against religious discrimination, the government’s bill was “confusing, inappropriate and unfair”.
